General Membership Meeting Minutes- April 26, 2006
Meeting began at 7:30. All officers present. All teams had representation, except Rockets.
President:
1) Ben Perry spoke about the Red Bulls game on July 15th for the club. He explained everyone would sit together, activities for the kids before the game, march in behind the team, photos up on the jumbo-tron, free t-shirt-should be a lot of fun especially for younger players. Money needs to be to Ben by July 7th with a count of number of tickets. He will contact coaches with more information.
2) Memorial Day parade: a letter was given to Dave from the town inviting us. Comets and Roadrunners are responsible for this activity. It was mentioned previously to possibly have the Club picnic after the parade, but the membership voted against this. It will be held instead, before the Coaches game on May 13th.
3) Carnival was mentioned and how it was originally set up on the new field-one ride and some trucks/trailers. People did call or email the mayor and things were moved off the field and a snow fence was put up to protect the field.
Vice President:
He introduced Paul to speak:
1) Training: Paul Greaves spoke to the group about ongoing training. There was also an injury during a scrimmage at training and that is why it is necessary for the coaches to be at all training sessions with all medical information and contact numbers for parents. Training had been estimated at 15 hrs a week, but then increased to about 25hours/week. Paul at this time will attend 2 games for analysis for each team. The Board will meet this week and decide whether there is money in the budget to extend training beyond the 10 weeks, or add additional game analysis hours. We will inform the coaches with the end date for training soon. Coaches, please let Paul know if your team is canceling training. Also, Paul wants lines painted again and checked regularly because of the dirt and rain, etc. (Cheryl and Les were not here)
2) Summer camp info will be out soon from Paul.
3) The mini-camp held over spring break, had about 24 participants.
4) Coaches’ game will be held May 13that 6pm, with a cook-out before. Please invite your team to come and cheer everyone on.
5) E-license course will not happen at this time. Paul will hook up with NJ Youth Soccer to help set this up.
6) Ref school will happen in August.
Other issues from the Vice President:
1) Team reports/ club assignments (most were covered above)
2) Rachel has envelopes for picture day which is June 3rd.
Treasurer:
1) Based on the budget and adjustments made for registrations, there should be enough money for additional training. Again, this will be decided at the Board meeting the first week of May.
2) Can day is May 20th. Information should be out this week.
League Contact:
1) Many games need to be rescheduled or made –up due to the weather. Please make sure to let Sharon know of all the changes. Games must be made up by June 4th. Contact Sharon for information on availability and dates for fields. A suggestion was made to line a large field with small-sided field lines too, to allow other teams to use these for their games.
Secretary:
1) The by-laws with the adaptations/changes will be voted on at the end of the year meeting in June.
2) Any nominations for officers should be sent to the secretary (brownnil@yahoo.com) at least ten days before the June 7th meeting, so the nominees can be approached to accept or turn down the nomination. All nominations will happen at the June meeting.
3) Coaches please change Coach Ed’s email for the Comets to: comets04@verizon.net
New Business:
1) Tony Divencenzo is the new web master, replacing Candy McKiernan. Send any information for the web site (mybluesoccer.net) to him @ (divintd.tony@verizon.net)
2) It was discussed by various members that we need to think about obtaining a training field for the Club. The conditions of the fields are poor at best, except for the new field at Mountain View Park. We need a long term plan and we need to start planning this soon. Possibly, purchasing land from the town or putting money aside for this. Please encourage members to attend town council meetings and make your concerns heard. Grants are available, if people are willing to work for them. Grants are available at USsoccer.com
Meeting was adjourned at 9:15 pm.
