General Membership Meeting notes from March 15th, 2006
Meeting began at 7:30 All officers present. 12 coaches, parents or interested persons were present. All teams had at least one representative present.
President’s report: 1. Dave reviewed the proposed by-law changes and asked that people review them and submit proposed suggestions or changes by April 20th. There will be guidelines and addendums also. Each coach should have a copy of the proposed changes, as well as one on the webpage. 2. Sunday soccer has finished. Good turn-out. 3. A $50 ad was placed in the program for the play at Mauger. 4. Anyone who needs equipment-see Dave. The uniform company Xara is not making the same shorts anymore, so for now it is okay, but we may have to switch companies for fall. 5. Metrostars have now changed to NY Red Bulls. A representative from The Red Bulls, Ben Perry wants to work with the club to coordinate for the Club to go see a game this spring.
Vice President’s report: 1. For registration purposes, we need to know all players who have dropped the Club. 2. Copies of the Club Philosophy were distributed to coaches. This will be adopted with the by-laws. 3. Club/team responsibilities have been divided up by teams and will be responsible for: fields, can day, picture day, Memorial Day Parade, picnic, and try-outs. Can day is May 20th, Try-outs are June 10th. 4. Paul Greaves, the trainer from Box2Box was introduced. Paul wants to provide consistent training for all players, following the Club philosophy. He will provide training, game analysis and coaches meetings and clinics. He obtained the goalie trainer from Rutgers and he recommends coaches get E licenses to further their knowledge and training for their teams. He will also run mini-camps for the players (the first is during April vacation). Summer camp will also be the second week of August. 5. As a side note, World Cup soccer will be held this June and it is encouraged for players to watch the matches to further their knowledge.
Treasurer’s report: 1. Peter passed out a copy of the 2006 budget to all. It is a bit lower than expected because we had budgeted for a few more teams than we actually have participating this spring. 2. Refunds will be issued to those who have dropped before the season began.
League contact’s report: 1. Mid NJ Youth Soccer league has 65 clubs and 858 teams to manage, with 4,268 games. If any concerns or problems by any teams, they must contact Sharon Schueller first. 2. Refs have been assigned to home games. 3. SAGE meetings have not been set up, but she has 2 videos if anyone wants to watch it. 4. Sharon passed out game cards, labels and passes to all coaches. 5. After the games, please contact Sharon with the score and how many refs were there. Please cc her if games are cancelled. 6. Roster labels need to be done before the game-makes it much easier. 7. For every 3 teams registered, we must provide one ref. The club will pay $25 towards anyone who wants to be in the ref mentoring program. Wes and Greg need to show their certificates and will get paid. 8. If a game is to be cancelled by the home coach, it must happen before 10:00 am. Otherwise, only the ref would be able to cancel the game for dangerous conditions.
Meeting was ended at 8:40 pm.
Respectfully submitted, Kathy Nilsson, MYSA Secretary
