General Membership Meeting Minutes-October 18, 2006
Liam and Paul spoke about Box2Box. Some kids still do not have the right equipment-shin guards, water, properly inflated balls, etc. No jewelry of any kind is allowed.
Coaches’ clinics are successful and fun.
Mini-camps will be held Nov. 9th and 10th. Coaches please get the word out to your players.
Information is out about winter training, available through Box2Box.
Any make-ups for training or game analysis, please contact Paul.
President’s report:
Doug went over a FAQ sheet. He has to make a decision about fields/weather by 9:00am. It may turn nice later, but games that are called earlier must follow this cancellation policy. Only carded coaches/trainers are allowed on the player’s side.
If we do not make up cancelled games, there is a $100 fine.
Coaches please review/remind the parents about the ethics sheet that was handed out.
Try-outs will be Nov. 11th, rain date Nov.18th.
Cheryl Drecksage is in charge of try-outs. She will be looking for volunteers.
There will be a station this year for goalies. Evaluations will not be done with the same age group that coaches work with.
We will do Sunday soccer again-probably 6 or 7 weeks.
We are having problems with people tipping over the porta-potty at Hazelwood. Anyone have a chain?
Thank you to all the coaches for their hard work so far, also thanks to Box2Box and Sharon for the Sage work, as well as the entire Board for all their hard work.
Vice President’s report:
Dennis has been having problems with his laptop, so he did not have exact data with regards to Box2Box and training hours. It is estimated we have used 145 hours, with 54 left. (As of 10/18)
Each coach should have had 2 game analyses at this point.
We need to get the ending dates for training and goalie training.(this ended 10/23)
Can day merchants were set up on a spreadsheet. There were 5 vendors and 7 teams. Juan will schedule these. (As we know Can Day was “canned”….due to the rain and wind).
Dennis had information on 5 other clubs and Middlesex is definitely the cheapest as far as registration fees. We will explore increasing the cost for next season (fall).
Treasurer’s report:
At this point (10/18) we had $9,722.02 in the treasury. There were 5 outstanding checks and 2 may need to be voided.
Guidelines need to be set up for the future for sponsorship. Corporations will use this as a tax write-off, so they will need to pay MYSA for the apparel.
Tony is in the process of adding the updated by-laws to the website.
League Contact:
As of 10/18, we have 3 games that need to be made up. All games have been moved from the pool field to Haverstick.
Safety goggles were mandated by NJ for all sports (as of July 1st 2006). This is still not being enforced. She will get more information about this.
At the SAGE meeting, 21 people from Middlesex attended out of a total of 43. This was a good turn-out.
Coaches please send a confirmation to the opposing coaches for the weekend of Nov.11th and 12th. This is teacher convention and sometimes teams say they can’t field a team at the last minute. They have until 8pm on Wed before a game to make changes.
Old Business: Coaches, if you have any situations with Sage problems or other issues with parents or coaches inform Doug immediately.
Sue Chinn will continue to work through the spring doing apparel, but in the fall we will need a replacement.
Respectfully Submitted;
Kathy Nilsson
MYSA Secretary
