Presidents Report

Mayors Meeting

The second meeting with Mayor DeAngelis has not yet been rescheduled.  We are hoping to do so prior to the next general membership meeting.

Advertising

We are looking to send our “Want More Soccer” flyers to Middlesex, Dunellen and Bound Brook school districts as well as the recreation departments and local libraries to help advertise the spring tryouts.   We would also like to look at announcing the tryouts on the High School message board.

Fundraising

Can Day was held on October 13th.  (Post meeting note can day raised nearly $2,400.00 this season.  Great work!!)

Soccer Grant

The soccer grant has been denied since we do not own the land for the field.

Vice Presidents Report

Dennis reviewed the B2B training, as of the meeting we are currently 10 hours off.  To meeting date we have currently used 152 hours.  B2B is working to reschedule the times with the various teams.  This training should be made up as soon as possible since the nights are getting shorter and colder.  There is 3 weeks of scheduled training left as of this meetings date.

B2B has coaches clinics scheduled for every other Wednesday night.  The coach’s clinics are also open to the parents; this is a great opportunity to help acquaint yourself with the game.   These clinics are paid for by the league.

Also discussed is the requirement that a coach or parent must be present for your teams training or goal keeper training.

As it looks there may be time left after the scheduled end date for training.  Since the season continues after that date B2B would continue the training until the end of game play to make up for the lost hours.

Each team has had 1 game evaluation.  B2B is working on scheduling the 2nd evaluation.

Dennis is looking for feed back on training and/or evaluations.  Please contact him with any questions or concerns so we can work to make the training the most efficient as possible.

Paul will not be returning this season in any capacity with B2B.   Liam will be in charged of all B2B responsibilities for the remainder of the season.

Treasurers Report

Tony distributed a pie chart detailing the costs associated with running the club.  The club is currently running on budget for this season.  At the time of the meeting the can day totals were not identified.

Tony discussed the possibility of MYSA holding a breakfast during the spring season as an alternate fundraiser.  The board and fundraising committee are working together to determine the possibility of this project.

Club tryouts for the spring season will be held on Saturday November 3rd (rain date Saturday November 10th) at Mountainview Park.  The time will be from 11:30 am until 5:00 pm.

The registration forms have been posted on the clubs website and will be distributed to the schools and recreation departments.

Tony will be coordinating tryouts this season.  The assistance of all the coaches and trainers will be necessary in order to run the tryouts.  More information will follow.

League Contact

Scheduling has been good this season.  The weather has been very cooperative and to date there are only 2 games that need to be made up.  Please try and get these games scheduled as quickly as possible since the colder weather will be arriving.

August 2008 will be MYSA’s 10th Anniversary.  The club will be planning a picnic at Mountainview Park the weekend after the August Summer Soccer camp ends.  All players, coaches, board members past and present will be invited to attend along with their families to help celebrate this milestone.  More information will be distributed as this is being planned.  Also discussed was to design a 10th anniversary MYSA patch to give out at tournament.  The board will look into this.

It was stressed again that a coach and or parent must be present during the training sessions.  This is required by the league and is done to protect the children as well as the trainers.

It was mentioned that garbage is being left in the park after practices, training sessions and games.  Please take the time to clean up after your sessions and/or games.  John will contact the DPW to request additional garbage cans be placed at Haverstick and Hazelwood fields.

Secretary Report

John will be updating the website this season.  Please forward any results, pictures and/or team news to John to be put on the site.  Schedules, Directions, League Information, B2B updates and fundraiser information will also be posted.

Box 2 Box

Liam stated that training to date was going well.  Once again he asked that all players come to training with the proper equipment (Shin guards inside socks, proper sized soccer ball, and proper apparel) and for the coaches to warm up the players so training can begin on time.

Training will remain at Haverstick for the rest of the season.  Since the weather is starting to change make sure the players are dressed accordingly.

There will also be no training on Halloween this season.

B2B will be holding a camp on November 8th and 9th during Teachers Convention.  Liam will hand out flyers and the information will also be posted on our website.

Liam also suggested painting a SAGE line at the fields to help keep the spectators from crowding the sidelines.

Uniforms / Apparel

The cut off date for any holiday orders is November 2nd.  The will allow ample time for the orders to arrive prior to the holidays.  Please send any orders to Kris Gary.

Fields

Paint for the fields is available from either Doug or Rachel.  Your team field representatives will need to contact either one of them to arrange to get the paint machines and paint when it is their turn to line the fields.

MYSA has purchased 100 lbs of grass seed that has been planted by Doug at Haverstick and Hazelwood fields over the worn out areas of the fields.  It was discussed if additional seed should be purchased so it can be planted this fall.  It was estimated that approximately 600 lbs of seed would be needed to do both Hazelwood and Haverstick fields.  John will also contact the DPW to see if there are any plans on the town’s part to seed the fields.

Recruitment

Anna Mantel discussed the spring recruitment for the league.  She asked that a larger effort be made from the league to help get more players.  A few of our teams are playing with as little as 2 subs per game this season.  Anna is looking to recruit at the Saturday morning recreation soccer games as well as hand out fliers during can day.  A table will be set up at the recreation games prior to tryouts to help get some interest in the club.

Tryouts and Team Selection

It was discussed that the evaluation forms be updated prior to the tryouts for the spring season to better score the players.  Liam offered to help work on this for the tryouts.

A meeting will take place an hour before the start of tryouts to review the scoring and review what to look for at the stations during tryouts as well as helping B2B set up the stations for tryouts.

A question was raised about if a new team is being formed and there is no carded coach who would be selecting the players for the team.  This will be reviewed by the board.

If a player decides to leave his team and play on another team in the spring he will need to turn in his card and be released from his team prior to being able to play on another team.

Door Prize

Congratulations to Tracy Chiappa, the winner of the evenings door prize of a $10 gift certificate to Effingers and a pair of sweet spots.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 pm

Respectfully Submitted

John Nicholson

MYSA Secretary
