About the Middlesex
Youth Soccer Association
The Middlesex Youth Soccer Association
(MYSA) provides a competitive travel soccer experience for more than 130
young athletes in the Middlesex, Bound Brook, South Bound Brook and
Dunellen, New Jersey communities. Our teams
compete in the Spring and Fall seasons against teams from 68 other
communities from all over Central and Northern New Jersey.
Because our not-for-profit organization is
funded solely through membership fees from players and business sponsorships,
we are grateful to all of the local business donors in the communities we
serve. Their generous support makes this important youth sports program
possible.
For more information on advertising and
support opportunities, see our Sponsorship page, or send an email
inquiry to our Fund Raising Committee.

Answers to frequently asked questions about
Middlesex Youth Soccer Association (MYSA)
MYSA joins the Mid-New Jersey Youth Soccer Association League (MNJYSA).
League Motto is: "Kids come first." League participates in the SAGE Program (Set A Good Example)
All teams play 10 games each season. (Typically 5 Home games and 5 Away games)
In the Fall, we play from Mid-September until Thanksgiving weekend.
Yes, we play on Columbus Day Weekend and Teacher Convention Weekend!
In the Spring, we play from Mid-March until early June. We play every weekend EXCEPT Easter and Memorial Day.
Yes, we play on Mother’s Day and during Spring break!
Spring season has playoffs for flight winners of the U11 – U19 teams. These games are after the regular season.
Soccerama is a tournament that is available for our teams and is FREE to all teams in our League. This tournament is almost always Father’s Day weekend. Your team would play 2 games on EITHER Saturday OR Sunday.
All U9 – U19 teams play on Sunday. Games can be scheduled anytime between 11:30 am – 5:00 pm
All U8 teams play on Saturday. Games can be scheduled anytime between 9:30 am – 5:30 pm
The only exception is IF your team is in a flight with 11 teams, then you will be assigned a game on Saturday (Sunday for U8’s) during the published extra game weekend and you will have a Bye (no game) on 1 of the Sunday’s (Saturday’s).
If your team is in a flight with 10 teams, your 10th game (Week J) will not be scheduled until the week before the game. The standings in the flight will determine if you are home or away and whom you will play for this game.
Practice and Games
Practices are at the coach’s discretion…as little as once per week to as much as three times per week.
Games are played in all kinds of weather including rain unless there is lightning.
All 10 games should be played each season, so any make-up games will be coordinated by coaches and may be any day of the week depending on team and field availability.
Teams will be announced shortly after team selection night.
All players selected for a team will need to obtain a player pass. You will need to provide several items for the pass to be validated including a copy of your child’s Birth Certificate, a 1” x 1” photo of your child as well as completing forms the coach will provide (Player Membership form, Medical Release form – which MUST be notarized, and a SAGE Pledge)
The Team and Club runs entirely through the efforts of volunteers.
A member of each player’s family is required to volunteer for at least 2 hours for the team or the club.
Each team has different needs depending on the coach, but the following are a few areas where help is needed:
Assistant coach, team manager to help the coach with paperwork and game scheduling, SAGE rep, Can Day Rep to organize and keep track of the kids and money, website content manager is someone to keep track of the team web page and send the webmaster any info that needs to be updated, field rep to help make sure fields are ready for game days - check on nets and field lining, Spring picnic coordinator, Spring Parade organizer, Picture Organizer, snack coordinator to organize parents to bring snack for each game, extra curricular activities, apparel rep, statistician.
CAN Day
Each Season our club runs Can Day. This simple act of standing outside of a store in uniform does 2 things. First, we raise money to help our club; second, we are a visual statement publicizing our club throughout the community. We would ultimately like to have every player participate. It is only 1 hour of your time on the selected day at your teams designated location. If however, you have a previous commitment on the day chosen, there is a $25 opt-out fee.
Registration Fees help keep the club running.
Your registration fee helps pay for our clubs Registration into the MNJYSA League, Fees for each team Players Pass packet, Referee Fees, Professional Training sessions for each team with our current training company ‘Box2Box Soccer’ as well as other miscellaneous expenses such as nets, line paint, game balls, etc…
Please remember that this Club is more competitive than recreation soccer. It involves a commitment on the part of the player as well as the parents. It does matter if your child can’t make it to a game or practices. Teammates are depending on you and your coaches are volunteering their time to help you bring your game to the next level.
